The Book of Drinks
The prohibition of making Nabidh in Al-Muzaffat, Ad-Dubba' (Gourds), Al-Hantam and An-Naqir; This has been abrogated and now it is permitted, so long as it does not become intoxicating
وَحَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ طَاوُسٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ رَجُلاً، جَاءَهُ فَقَالَ أَنَهَى النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَنْ يُنْبَذَ فِي الْجَرِّ وَالدُّبَّاءِ قَالَ نَعَمْ .
Ibn 'Umar reported that a person came to him and said: Did Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) forbid the preparation of Nabidh in a green pitcher (besmeared with pitch and) in varnished jar? He said: Yes.
