Musnad Ahmad 2592

Musnad of 'Abdullah bin al-'Abbas bin 'Abdul-Muttalib from the Prophet

It was narrated that Ibn ‘Abbas (رضي الله عنه) said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbade hollowed-out stumps, gourds, and varnished jars, and he said: “Do not drink from anything but that which has a string.” So they made (vessels) from camel skins, and gave them necks made from sheepskin. News of that reached him and he said: “Only drink from the upper part of it.”
