Musnad Ahmad 3686

Musnad of Abdullah bin Mas'ood

It was narrated that 'Abdullah (رضي الله عنه) said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) lay down on a reed mat and it left marks on his side. When he woke up, I started wiping his side and I said: O Messenger of Allah, why don't you allow us to spread something on top of this rood mat for you? The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “what do I have to do with this world? What do I have to do with this world? The likeness of me and this world is that of a traveller who seeks shade under a tree, then he moves on and leaves it.”
