Musnad Ahmad 3886

Musnad of Abdullah bin Mas'ood

It was narrated that Ibn Udhnan said: I loaned two thousand dirhams to Alqamah, then when he received his stipend, I said to him: Pay me back. He said: Give me respite until next year. But I insisted that he pay and I took it. Then I came to him afterwards and he said: You caused me trouble and withheld it from me. I said: Yes, it is because of you. He said: What about me? I said: You told me from Ibn Mas'ood (رضي الله عنه) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Lending money is akin to charity.” He said: Yes, that is so. He said: Then take (a loan) now.
