Musnad Ahmad 4091

Musnad of Abdullah bin Mas'ood

It was narrated that 'Abdullah (رضي الله عنه) said: The Prophet (ﷺ) said to me: “Recite Qurʼan to me." I said: O Messenger of Allah, how could I recite to you, when you are the one to whom it was revealed? He said: “I like to hear it from someone else." So I started reciting Soorat an-Nisa' and I recited to him, and when I reached the verse, “How (will it be) then, when We bring from each nation a witness and We bring you (O Muhammad (ﷺ)) as a witness against these people?" (an-Nisa' 4:41), I looked at him and his eyes flowing with tears.
