Sahih al-Bukhari 6848

Limits and Punishments set by Allah (Hudood)

What punishment may be inflicted on the person so that they may not commit the same sin again, or so that they may learn good manners

Narrated Abu Burda: The Prophet (ﷺ) used to say, "Nobody should be flogged more than ten stripes except if he is guilty of a crime, the legal punishment of which is assigned by Allah."
