Asking a question: public or private?

There are two ways to ask, and both are welcome. No question is too small.

Public questions (Questions & answers)

Good for general questions others may also have, such as "Can I combine prayers when travelling?". You need a free account. Questions are reviewed before they appear, and answers come from our team and from members — also reviewed for accuracy and kindness. You'll be notified when someone answers, and you can mark the answer that helped you most.

Private questions

For anything personal — or if you are exploring Islam and would rather not ask in public — use Ask privately (in Discover Islam or on the Questions page). It goes only to our team, is never published, and a real person replies by email. No account is needed.

We answer with care, but we are not a fatwa service. For personal rulings we may gently suggest speaking to a qualified scholar near you.
